What about Children?

what about children, brother and sister playing

Either partner can apply for maintenance for themselves or children.

Any child of a person who enters into a civil partnership automatically becomes the other party's stepchild.

Parental Responsibility can be acquired in the same way as a married stepparent and such partners will be able to apply for residence and contact orders. If there are children in the family you should complete a form called a ‘statement of arrangements' in which you tell the court what plans you have made for the children once the dissolution is final.
