National Domestic Violence Week 2008 runs from Monday 24 to Friday 28 November and will feature a march through Exeter city centre to highlight the problem in the run up to Christmas.
10.00am Honiton Police Station - Noisy March to Mackarness Hall where there will be a formal launch at 10.30am including speech from Cllr Vernon Whitlock.
12.00pm Exeter - Noisy March -St Sidwells. Finish in Bedford Square. Marquee etc.
12.30pm Family centre, Ilfracombe. Refreshments followed by Noisy March to the Quay where at 2.30 there will be a petal launch.
7.30pm Pub quiz in Cork and Bottle pub, Barnstaple.
8.00 p.m. MADA (Musicians Against Domestic Violence) presence at Billy Bragg gig Great Hall Exeter University.
5.30 - 8.00 pm CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel Development) event in Exeter. Aimed at HR professionals and employers about their responsibility towards employees experiencing domestic abuse. Booking essential.
From 12 noon - 2.00 pm - Launch of Devon Wide Sanctuary Scheme. Sandy Park Conference Centre, Exeter. The Devon Sanctuary Scheme aims to help victims of domestic violence and abuse to feel safe and secure where they choose to remain in their own homes, by improving the security with professionally installed security measures.
1.45pm Noisy March by ND College students to Barnstaple square. 2pm Live music with Jenna Witts and Jim Jones. Hundreds of local school children sing Silent Night.
7.30pm Bingo -British legion, Barnstaple.
DV Stand at the Mayors table in Barnstaple Pannier market.
7pm Evening Music event in The Inn on the Square, Barnstaple. Lots of live music with local young acts including Average Blues band, Purple Olive, The Sonix and DJ Seb.
