Domestic Abuse

Domestic abuse is far more common than anyone would care to admit and need not be tolerated.
The law provides many powerful and effective remedies against domestic abuse, and we can help victims find the right method of protection. Legal Aid is available and enables domestic abuse victims and solicitors to act immediately.
Examples of domestic violence and abuse include:
- Threats and intimidation.
- Mental and emotional abuse.
- Physical and sexual abuse.
- Financial abuse.
- Using and abusing children.
If you are a victim of domestic violence and abuse don't delay seeking help - the situation will never improve on its own. Our solicitors are ready to help and advise you in complete confidence and can help you with the following:
- Applying for an injunction - a 'Civil Law Order' which you can use to help keep you safe. It places legal restrictions on your partner to try to prevent or limit any further abuse/violence.
- Applying for / or responding to, orders under the Children's Act (residence orders, contact orders, prohibited steps orders).
- Getting a divorce or a judicial (legally recognised) separation.
- In cases of urgency many domestic abuse victims are entitled to immediate Emergency Legal Aid and we can authorise the immediate grant of legal aid provided you qualify financially.
