A Successful Outcome For An Unmarried Mum

We were instructed by Mum who had two young children with Dad. They were not married. Dad left this country and moved abroad. Mum was on income support and living in a council flat. Dad was a professional earning £120,000 per year. Dad refused to provide full information as to his money.
A Schedule 1 application was made to the court. There were a number of hearings as Dad failed to attend and comply with court orders. We obtained an order that unless Dad attend court he would be sent to prison. He attended court and Mum was awarded a lump sum of £60,000, maintenance of £3,500 per month until the children finish tertiary education and to pay the children’s school fees.
Mum has now been able to purchase a home for herself and her children and provide them with a good standard of living. The children are now in private education. Without our persistence Mum and the children would still be on income support living in a council flat.
